Mont-Dore: the LED sign destroyed in the 2024 riots rebuilt by VisualCom
The LED sign in the Mont-Dore municipality, damaged during the 2024 riots, was completely redesigned and rebuilt by VisualCom: custom design, local manufacturing and careful installation.
A rebuild rather than a repair
The LED sign VisualCom had installed for the Mont-Dore municipality didn’t survive the riots that affected New Caledonia in 2024. Rather than settling for a simple repair, the town hall took the opportunity to start over with a new, sturdier installation, and once again put its trust in VisualCom to carry it out.
This choice came down to three reasons: a controlled budget, manufacturing done entirely in Nouméa rather than imported, and the experience our teams had already gained with this type of large-format outdoor installation.
Designed and engineered by our team
As with each of our custom projects, everything starts in the design office. Our engineers took charge of the entire design of the new sign: sizing the structure, choosing materials and drawing up execution plans. The result isn’t a standard model, but a structure designed specifically for this site and this client.
From the workshop to the site
Once the plans were approved, manufacturing began at our Nouméa workshop: the welded metal structure that supports the whole system was built there in full, before being transported and installed at its final location.
Fitting the LED modules, a precision step
Next comes the most delicate stage of the project: fitting the LED modules, work that requires precision to achieve a uniform display across the whole surface. A roller shutter completes the setup, protecting the sign outside broadcast hours.
A sign back in its place in Mont-Dore
The sign is now back in operation: new, reliable, and built to last. This installation brings the total LED surface VisualCom has deployed across New Caledonia to 187 m².
